Hearne is located about 90 miles northeast of Austin, about 20 miles from Bryan, and 110 miles from Houston.. The launch site location is just east of town. If the whole family doesn't want to fly rockets, there are plenty of other things to do and see in Houston and Austin.
The launch headquarters hotel is the Oak Tree Inn, 1051 North Market Street, in Hearne, (979) 279-5599. Ask for the "National Sport Launch" rate (Singles $60, King $62, and Double $65). Be sure to make arrangements early. Even though Hearne is a small town with a large number of hotels, they are normally heavily booked with industrial traffic.
The secondary hotel is the Executive Inn in Hearne. You might want to consider other hotels in the area if you have other members of the family who want to be tourists instead of rocketeers. You can start your search with this listing of hotels with links to listings in many cities. Contact info for the Executive Inn is:

Camping is permitted at the launch site. There are three open RV pads at the FBO which are available for $15/night on a first come/first served basis. Anyone may camp at the south end of the airport at no charge. Tents are fine, no open fires will be permitted. Camp stoves are permitted.
Once you've arrived at Hearne, the airport entrance is located about one mile from the intersection of 485 and 6. Detailed Maps are available on the NHRC web site.
Within a two hour drive to Austin, Waco, or Houston there are simply too many entertainment opportunities to list. A few of the lesser known nearby attractions are listed below, and you can find many more on the web.
